3-4 MAY, Athens 2012

AthCon is an annual, European two-day conference targeting particular areas of information security. It’s aim: to bring leading information security experts together. Attacking techniques of exploitation and various forms of penetration testing have become an important component of any organisation. This conference aims to provide a venue for understanding the ever evolving changes as well as new threats.

AthCon 2011 was completed with great success and significant media exposure. Information from the media coverage and moments from AthCon 2011 can be found in the press area. AthCon 2012 comes with new exciting events. Two new challenges will be available for all those who want to test their skills and gain a free ticket for AthCon 2012. Challenges will cover two security topics. Reverse Engineering and System/Network Security. Winner, whoever solves them first and submits a well documented report of the solution. A free pass for AthCon 2012 will be the prize for the winner of each challenge.

Reverse Engineering Challenge

Thousands of downloads, 3 submitted solutions, and 1 winner later it is time to announce the names of the people that solved it. Winner of the free ticket for Athcon 2012 Reversing Challenge is Nikolaos Tsapakis who succesfully submitted a solution (the 2nd we received), in due time, along with a detailed report showing how he solved it. However, we still need to give the credits to the other 2 people that solved it during the official time table. The first person to solve the challenge was Ivanlefou, but since he didn't claim the ticket and he did it just for fun the contest went on. The third person to solve the challenge was Tamas Szakaly. At this point we would like to say an extra "Thank you!" to these 3 guys for keeping their solutions private in order not to ruin the contest. We respect you for that.
